Kapil Dev is the best when itc comes of playing cricket is considered as a gentleman’s game all over the world, and is played with enormous amount of passion and dedication. This game consists of various elements. In cricket, there are batsmen who have their specialisation in batting, there are bowlers who have their specialisation in the bowling and then there are all rounders. These are considered as the handiest players of the team. All rounders are players who are specialised in both. There are two types of all rounders. All rounders whose strength is in batting and all rounders whose strength is in bowling.
Kapil Dev is one of the best all rounders in the world
There are many players like Irfan Pathan of India and Andrew Flintoff of England who have taken their country to victory just because of the dual talents they showcase. South Africa has always been blessed with all rounders in their team. Shaun Pollock is one such cricketer, who was more than handy to South African cricket. But the player who’d be called the best all rounder of all times is Jaqcues Kallis. He is one of the greatest all rounders any team could have dreamt of. During his early years he played for Wynberg Boys high school. Soon he was picked as a player by the under 19 team of South Africa. Despite having a blistering debut , he managed to play the world cup in 1996,however he could not really excel on the field. One of the biggest achievements for Kallis and his team was ICC Champions Trophy in 1998 where he led his team to win the title and he was regarded as the man of the match as well as the man of the series. This form continued with India as well, where he played outstandingly and led his team to win a test series. This was the time when he moved to number one position in the ICC ratings as an all rounder.
Also, as a matter of fact, he’s one of the very few players who got five consecutive centuries in test matches with only four other players with the same record. He has always been an integral part of the squad as he is one of the very few players who have played all three formats of the game. This player has a breath taking record as an all rounder. This man has been giving solidity to the team since two decades by playing 166 test matches and 328 one day matches. He has out shone all the other all rounders by making more than ten thousand runs in both the long formats of the game. Being the perfect all rounder, he has taken over 290 in test matches and 273 in one days. With the best averages as a bowler and as a batsman he has written his name all over the world in gold. He has played under many domestic franchises other than his national squad, like Kolkata Knight Riders, Middlesex, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Western Province, and even here he has been the best in both the departments. He’s been the best in all formats of the game helping South Africa to grow and emerge under his lights. But unfortunately, legends have to retire sometime. 12th July 2014 was the day when he brought tears in the eyes of his fans, as he played his last international match of his career. But the love and passion he has for the game in commendable. He became the official coach of Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015. Later he became the international coach of the England cricket team. Now he is the official batting consultant for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Nobody can forget this man and his contributions to his team. He was the best and he still is the best all rounder in the world. He’ll forever stay “not-out” in the eyes of his fans.
